The Newest Diet Fad: Paleo

The newest fad diet on the block combines all the trends of the day: “low-carb,” “gluten-free,” and “low glycemic index,” instilling fears about healthful foods and waxing poetic about animal flesh and fluids. You might call this a “retro” diet in that in doesn’t look forward; it looks backwards. Way backwards! Not backwards 10 years or 100 years but 20,000 years! Join me as I discuss the The Paleo Diet: why it’s not sustainable, why it’s a just fad, why its claims cannot be substantiated, and why it appeals to people who Pasturbate.

    I have a friend who is mostly paleo. For dinner, I saw her eat a pre-cooked turkey patty. I know paleo is going to die out soon but before that happens I can now drop a few facts her way thanks to your podcast.

    The first time I knew this diet was beyond unhealthy, was when she had to leave the bar we were at to find “protein.” We were at a vegan bar that serves amazing & relatively healthy food…we all laughed with her when she realized how silly that sounded. She would rather forgo a bowl of rice, broccoli, and nutritional yeast dusted tofu and go on a cavewoman hunt for a piece of cooked meat…
