Hi Colleen! I really enjoyed listening to this podcast. I’m British, and was in the Lake District and York early this year myself. I’m so impressed by your knowledge and passion for British history and literature. I was wondering if I could request a topic for another podcast, perhaps. Most, if not all, of the books I read about veganism are written in and therefore focussed on the USA. I’d love to know more about the treatment of animals worldwide and how it compares. For example, in the UK many dairy cows really do seem to be out in the fields eating grass. When I’m in conversation with people I find myself having to quote American statistics, rather than UK ones, and I feel it undermines my argument a little. I know I could probably find out this information if I tried, but you always do such a wonderful job in your podcasts, perhaps you already know a lot about this?

I’m with you, Catherine. I’ve been on the lookout for documentaries/information about UK animal agriculture and welfare for a short while but I’ve not found anything besides the occasional undercover footage.
This is the first pod I’ve checked out, enjoying it. Especially as I’m planning to visit York myself within the next month.

Thank you so much for being a voice for the animals and helping me through my journey as a vegan. You played a BIG role in my coming out as a vegan, along with Gary Yourofsky, Kathy Freston, Dr. Neal Barnard and Alicia Silverstone. But your style of activisim is quite different. I love that you stress the compassion part. A lot of people who eats animals are turned off by that aspect and tend to see that as not important.
Thank you so much for being who you are and spreading love not hate <3
