Best Movies Watched in 2013
cranesDavid and I watch a lot of movies, and we joke that we don’t watch anything made after 1970, though it’s a bit of an exaggeration. We tend to get into themes, focusing on war films or heist films or Russian films; or we watch a film by a director we really like and choose to watch a number of his films in a row.

In 2013, we focused a bit on war movies and Russian, Eastern European, and British movies (both war and “kitchen sink dramas”), in particular. I’ve listed all the movies we saw in 2013, but started off with what were our favorite 20, which were quite frankly unforgettable. The ones with an asterisk next to them are a must-see, in my opinion. They are absolutely breathtakingly, heartbreakingly beautiful. After that, they’re in no particular order. Enjoy!
