on this once-in-a-lifetime journey to the Amalfi Coast region! Colleen has teamed up with Green Earth Travel and Tierno Tours to design a vegan trip from June 14th to 21st, 2014. From foraging our own fresh local greens to making our own pizza in a brick oven, we have created the perfect balance of local sightseeing and culinary experiences.

All of the meals will be organic, local, and vegan. We will be visiting the best local sites, five of which are UNESCO World Heritage, plus you will have free time to see sites on our own.

Full Itinerary:

Day 1 - Depart from U.S. on overnight flight to Rome FCO. (D, B on board flight)

Day 2 - Arrive in Rome FCO, drive down to Cilento stopping in Pompeii for a guided tour before checking into our villa and meeting for our welcome dinner. (L, D)

Day 3 -  Felitto – Harvest nature walk where we will learn about all the wild greens, vegetables and herbs that have been used for centuries in the local dishes of Cilento. After our harvest walk and cooking lesson, we will have lunch in a local farm house. After lunch we can choose to take a ride down the river on a paddle boat or a nature walk throughout the mountain of Felitto. (B, L, D)

Day 4 -  Padula – Our first stop is the Monastery of Padula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest antiquity of southern Italy. We will have lunch in Villa Cosilinum, a beautiful restored Villa at the top of this village after we will have a tour of Joe Petrosino’s home before heading back to villa for dinner and cooking lesson from our host. Day 5 -  Drive down the Coast of Cilento to the fishing village of Palinuro where we will get our boat ride to the five Grottos (caves) of the cape. We will have lunch overlooking the water and then free time on the beach. (B,L,D) Dinner cooking lesson from host.

Day 6 -  Tour of the Castle of Roccadaspide built in 1242 by Fredrick II, passed down to the Duke Ettore Giuliani, who will give us the tour himself. Down the street to a local Cantina where we will make your own pizza in a wood burning oven. Our next stop is the temples of Peastum, where we can walk down the street to see the three temples of this Greek city. Next we will drive down the Amalfi Coast to check in to our hotel. Free night. Day 7 -  Free day on the Amalfi Coast. We will provide a list of things to do and vegan places to eat and offer the option to come with us.

Day 8 -  Check out of our hotel to leave for Rome, but we will make our last stop in Vetri Sul Mare where on every corner you can see artisans making their ceramics. Check in to our Hotel in Rome. Free night.  (B, L) We will provide a list of things to do and vegan places to eat and offer the option to come with us and be your guide in Rome.

Day 9 -  Transfer to airport FCO.
